Jury’s craft awards:

Best screenplay

• Honorable mention: Welcome home
• Winner: Tarjei Sandvik Moe for I Felt I Had to Be Here
  Best Screenplay is awarded to a story where much of the power lies in what is left unsaid. A story where the protagonist is absent. For the parents, this is a horror film. For us in the jury, it is a distinctive and very well-written and executed film about those who remain.

Best directing

• Honorable mention: Halogen
• Winner: Tobias Klemeyer Smith for Whatever City
  Both in its visual aesthetic in black and white, and in its use of sound design and music, combined with strong acting performances, he has created an existential city portrait. It’s about existing in the city, about truth and falsehood, and about crafting your story while searching for your place and meaning. In a film that uses the city as a mirror for what the character is going through.

The jury’s special craft award

• Honorable mention: Nøkkelbarn for production design
  The honorable mention goes to a film that has truly succeeded in capturing the orange-hued 70s aesthetic in an impressive way.
• Honorable mention: Vilde’s Fjord for music
  The music plays a crucial role in this documentary, especially toward the end, where it evolves into bittersweet, mythological heights. Composer Olav Førsund’s score creates an atmospheric and emotional frame that enhances the film’s themes and adds extra depth.
• Winner: Japanese Cigarette for cinematography
  The award for professional function goes to cinematography, and specifically to a film that truly impresses with its use of black tones, shadows, and light—in the spirit of Jim Jarmusch—managing to create a space between reality and dream. Therefore, this award goes to Nikolaj Kramer’s black-and-white cinematography in Japanese Cigarette.

Pitching competition

The winner answers nearly everything we could wish to know and delivers a well-prepared and well-executed pitch. The project is realistic both in terms of execution and communication.

The project addresses a relevant and important issue in society. It is personally motivated, giving the director deep insight into the subject matter. We are convinced that this will become a completed film that will find its audience.

The winner is Frida Skauvik Aune with the project FORSTYRRET (DISTURBED).

Youth award:

• Honorable mention: Big Expectations
• Honorable mention: Pappas Poppy
• Winner: Hound

• Honorable mention: Someone’s everything
  One of our all time favorites…
• Winner: Hound
  Really an inspiring film to see, especially for us as filmmakers.
  

Beste fiksjon:

• Winner: Daddy Cool
  A truly tough category, as there were so many strong fiction films to choose from. In the end, the jury settled on a film that fires on almost all cylinders—using a naturalistic acting style to convey the power of everything left unsaid and the difficulty of being close, perhaps especially as a man. The film is encapsulated in gray and green tones, with darkness and depth, as it transforms suburban idyll into something almost unsettling. Very impressive.

Beste dokumentar:

• Honorable mention: Pappas Poppy
  The honorable mention goes to the film for its contemporary and brave depiction of a phase in life that will soon pass.
• Winner: In the distance
  The winner is a film filled with originality, a bit of science, and human mysteries, stories, and humor.

The jury also announced that I Felt I Had to Be Here and Whatever City have qualified for the Amanda Award for Best Short Film.

Audience award:

• Winner: Vilde’s Fjord
